Steph Connelly (Pinsent Masons LLP) explores the journey from the 2016 University UK / Pinsent Masons LLP guidance to the Office for Students’ Condition E6, focusing on harassment and sexual misconduct in higher education institutions. Steph highlights the key requirements, training, and compliance measures necessary for institutions to meet Condition E6, as well as the consequences of non-compliance.
Steph is a Senior Associate in the Litigation team and a member of Pinsent Masons LLP’s university disputes practice, specialising in handling contentious higher education matters including internal complaints, OIA referrals and litigation, including judicial review. Steph is experienced in providing advice on commercial disputes and advises university clients in relation to a broad range of matters, including breach of contract, discrimination / Equality Act 2010 disputes, contract termination and claims brought by students, including group claims / complaints. Steph also advises institutions on policy and procedural matters, including those relating to student disciplinary, complaints procedures, fitness to study processes and issues involving freedom of speech.
