Workshop
This session focuses on the development and implementation of a dedicated safeguarding team to ensure student safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
A new safeguarding policy and framework were introduced at the University of Northampton, outlining protocols for identifying, managing, and responding to concerns. This framework enhances institutional accountability and aligns with Office for Students E6 compliance standards.
This session details referral processes, ensuring staff across an institution understand how to escalate safeguarding issues effectively. The team acts as a central point of contact, streamlining communication between departments and external agencies. The session provides an overview of embedding a specialist team, which covers key areas: under-18s, homelessness, child protection, fitness to study, county lines, and No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). These experts offer their insights into liaising with authorities and the third sector to support at-risk students facing complex challenges whilst meeting legal and ethical obligations.
