Supporting disabled students: updating our approach

9.40am – 10.05am GMT, 31 October 2024 ‐ 25 mins

Presentation

In this session Harriet Cannon (Disability Advisory Team Manager, University of Leeds) discusses how models of disability have shaped disabled student support, and what updating our thinking about disability means for disability services. We’ll look at how the University of Leeds responds to disabled students, and how it has updated and modified its approach to evidence and access to support. We’ll also look at how inclusive practice can be used as a tool to reimagine the disabled student experience, as well as reducing the institutional burden of the current ‘industry of adjustments’.
