Presentation
The Eating Disorder Support Coordinator (EDSC) project was launched in September 2024, funded by Central and North West London NHS, to assist students at King’s College University. This role is shared between the Counselling and Mental Health Team and King’s College Health Centre, providing support to students dealing with disordered eating, body dysphoria, image-related concerns, and/or compensatory behaviours. The role was introduced to ensure early intervention for individuals who are struggling with disordered eating habits.
This session explores the purpose of the EDSC role and the focus for the project. The purpose of the EDSC project is to offer guidance, support, and resources to individuals affected by eating disorders, while also providing a link between patients and specialised eating disorder services. Additionally, it focuses on training and outreach efforts to raise awareness and understanding of eating disorders. The session offers an overview of the project, highlights findings and accomplishments at the six-month mark, and outlines future goals and the objectives the EDSC project strives to accomplish.
