3.30pm – 4.30pm BST, 2 July 2025 ‐ 1 hour

Presentation

In the session, the University of the West of England explores how higher education providers can move beyond statements to create tangible, lasting change, with a specific focus on Student Services and the broader student experience.

Explore insights into the essential components of an effective anti-racism strategy—establishing clear goals, involving diverse voices in co-producing the strategy, actions, and plans, and setting measurable benchmarks for accountability. This presentation discusses actionable steps that Student Services can take to address structural inequalities (such as awarding gaps), foster inclusive cultures, and enhance student well-being by ensuring equitable access to resources.

The session also highlights the importance of understanding power dynamics, privilege, and intersectionality, equipping you with practical tools to apply anti-racist principles in your daily interactions with students. This strategy-driven approach empowers you to embed equity at the core of your work, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
