Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
The success of AMOSSHE depends on our community. We find value in celebrating what makes each person unique, and drawing on their different perspectives and experiences to improve the way we do business.
We’re committed to championing equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) among our members, their provider organisations, and in the wider higher education sector. We seek to reflect all aspects of the communities that we serve thorough our membership, workforce, and activities. AMOSSHE will follow all relevant UK laws and, where appropriate, exceed statutory requirements, all while staying true to EDI best practice.
As a membership organisation and employer, we take responsibility for EDI in our governance, practices, and provision. We proactively support the professional development of our members and employees in Student Services. We can better understand different communities and spark greater creativity in meeting the needs of our members, employees, sponsors, and associates by accessing, recruiting, and developing diverse talent. We’ll strive to constantly create a productive environment that represents and includes different cultures and groups, where everyone has an equal chance to participate and succeed.
Our members, employees, sponsors, and associates all have a responsibility to embrace and support this vision, and must continue to challenge behaviours and attitudes that prevent us from ensuring that:
- Everyone is treated fairly, with dignity and respect when associating and engaging with AMOSSHE.
- All members, employees, sponsors, and associates have an equal opportunity to participate and contribute to their full potential.
- All members, employees, sponsors, and associates have the right to be free from harassment, bullying, discrimination, or victimisation of any kind, as well as any other form of unwanted behaviour. This includes behaviour based on personal characteristics such as age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
